The present study aims to investigate how Physical Education undergraduates perceive the necessary knowledge to perform in Rhythmic Gymnastics during their initial formation. For this, it was divided into two stages. The first step consisted in mapping and discussing the scientific production in the field of GR at national and international level. For this purpose, a state-of-the-art research was developed. The second stage consisted of a research of the type Existential Action Research with undergraduates of the Physical Education course of a private higher education institution. The results signal to superficial experiences with the knowledge of this modality throughout the graduation. Condition that distances future professionals from acting with this corporal practice.
