Abstract

This study aimed to verify if there were differences in the distribution of time in school physical education classes in a group of 7th grade and in classes of an extracurricular physical activity program. Sixteen lessons were videotaped in each group and analyzed in terms of active learning time; not engaged time, instructional time, administration time and waiting time. There were no differences in the categories not engaged time, instruction time and administration time. There were found differences in the categories active learning time and waiting time, with greater use of active learning time in the physical education classes at school and a greater demand for waiting time at extracurricular physical activity classes.
