Abstract

This theoretical research aimed to understand dance as the possibility of giving meaning to teenage pupils’ corporeity. The initial study problematic was related to the media influence in the body concepts formation and to the (re) production of cultures of movement in school activities, especially dancing. The research theoretical and methodological reference was based on the Phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty, which points out to the perception of the lived body. Reflections on dance discussed in this paper go through the ideas of Saraiva-Kunz (2003), and Porpino (2006), and seek to understand a concept of education for dance by establishing a dialogue between physicality and aesthetics.
