Abstract

This review offers a critical appraisal of the book "Women in Communication - Central-West Region." The result of a collective research effort, part of the "Mujeres de la Comunicación" project encompassing Latin America and the Caribbean, the material provides biographies of Brazilian women researchers from Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, and the Federal District, as well as outlining a historical overview of undergraduate and graduate programs in Communication in these regions. Although not intended as a "gender study" per se, the record is historical in the sense that it brings these researchers out of invisibility and opens avenues for considering methods and epistemologies capable of reflecting beyond the marks of coloniality.
