Abstract

Journalist and professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Miquel Rodrigo Alsina has a research trajectory that, from a constructionist perspective, articulates Theories of Communication and Interculturality. Since 1986, he has published studies that, surrounded by this great thematic axis, work on the construction of news in its organizational, political and economic constraints, problematizing the spheres of production and consumption under the scope of its professionalism, and addressing issues related to language, media and identity construction. In this interview, held at the Communication Department of the UPF, on December 11, 2019, Miquel Rodrigo Alsina reflects on the notions of journalistic event and its reconfiguration in the face of the emergence of digital social networks, and on empathetic movements seeking intercultural communicative practices.
