Abstract

This article discusses the principais concerning mythological and historical, from the imaginary classical and medieval, called on the Amazonian speech from the press. Analyzes the existent relation between the change of the social environment, and the transformation of the world representations. The study of the selection of public events, the cognitive and expressive treatments, allows identification of the solid repertoire of alternative visions of the world, which ofFers institutional mediators to the collectivity members. In this research interests us, identify which are the Amazon representations proposed in the press and what are the world visions the speech refers to. The method utilized is Content Analysis in articles referring to the Amazon, published in two dominant reference newspapers, the "Estado de Sao Paulo" and "Folha de Sao Paulo", in two distinct political periods; dictatorship and democracy.
