Abstract

The article presents some considerations aiming at the comprehension of the processes of meaning productíon concerning the experience of immigration by Brazilian printed media as marked by the specific characteristics adopted by contemporary immigration phenomena. Working from the inter-relationships between mediatization processes, the immigratory experience and interculturality, this article develops an initial mapping and a discourse analysis of the enunciation strategies of immigrations and of the immigrant expressions through a study of a sample of printed Brazilian media. These are partial reflections that are part of a research project, the objective of which is to analyse the construction of meaning about immigration as proposed by the printed media in its interface with the socio-cultural dynamics and practices of the everyday life of distinct categories of immigrants in the Brazilian context and of organizations dedicated to working with immigration. Keywords: media, immigration, interculturality
