Abstract

This essay aims to go through the crisscrossed lines, the tracks andthe cracks, the paths and ways, and so, the questions raised by LilianaSulzbach throughout “The Invention of Childhood” documentary production. She leads us to think the childhood/child being as a processhistorically built. Although this task will not be just hers as the “actors”,the spectators, the “word-actor”, the multiple narratives and severalperspectives will also address it. The director does not want to “document”or simply give us “the right answers”, instead, she seems tostruggle to develop a problematical concept and, therefore, using thisdynamic, to make us think about (and with) her issues. From a genea logical and perspective look, her “actors” are always presented as historicalsubjects that are able to produce polyphonic, unique, multipleand collective ways of existence. Sulzbach on this bursting multiplicity, full of differences, impregnated in the social fabric, allows us to establishreflection points.
