Abstract

The article takes an important time in the history of Brazilian television,the start of television broadcasting in 1950, and in particularthe transmission of teleteatros, since they were the most prestigioustelevision at that time, even becoming the very definition televisionin the 50’s. Through literature review, it was reported that the declineof teleteatro happened since 1962, with the advent of videotape andwith it the emergence of daily telenovelas that increasingly becamemore popular with viewers. From the perspective of the importance ofteleteatros for Brazilian television, appeared in 1974 the project Theater2 TV Cultura, in the creation of Nydia Lycia. This project becameone of the most successful in the pursuit of the reintegration of teleteatrosin television programming, bringing adaptations of literary textsrelevant to the TV. Contributing to the increase and encouragement ofpublic interest for the theatrical and literary culture, and provide opentelevision to other segments of various cultural and aesthetic.
