This article aims to retrace the political and intellectual ways assumed by Paul Vidal de la Blache’s Brazilian translations from 1943 to 2019. In mobilizing methodological orientations related to Psychanalysis, Anthropophagy movement, and Postcolonialism, I show the preponderant role of journals on the characterization of two different moments concerning Paul Vidal de la Blache’ Brazilian circulation: the “canonization” from 1943 to 1982 and the “decanonization” from 1999 to 2019. In a peripheral and francophone country, my conclusion is that translations and languages had a key role in the comprehension of Paul Vidal de la Blache’s legacy.
