This article addresses a specific contraposition between two points of view regarding the artistic producer activity, as an important agent to the arts management. The study arises from observations of the artistic production in Porto Alegre city, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It is proposed a dichotomic approach, in which it is presented a labelling tendency of the artistic producer whereas it is also proposed a view that allows an analysis without this labelling, that is the most appropriate and consistent, with permanent values in the production of art, influencing the possibility of artistic management.
