A Geopsychic Analysis of the Film “Crimes de Família”

Abstract

I propose an analysis of the 2020 film "Family Crimes," by director Sebastián Schindel, which tells the story of an infanticide that occurred within the home of a noble Argentine family. I understand the crime as the center of a script that allows us to consider less obvious situations within the family sphere that reveal violence against women, as well as articulations of class, power, and domination beyond physiological parenthood. I select two characters to focus on in greater detail, addressing both social and psychological issues and their opposing/complementary situations within the interplay of class differences that permeate the interpretation of the contemporary family.
