Abstract
Based on the provocations of philosophers such as Byung-Chul Han and Susan Sontag, and strongly inspired by Benjaminian thought, this text seeks to understand contemporaneity in the light of fatigue and time as a fragmented category, increasingly subjected to virtualization. The theoretical inferences are intertwined with the essayist's report: from the “pamonhada” (typical food in central Brazil) at the childhood home to the town of Caçu, a small community in Goiás, with 14.000 inhabitants; from the wisdom of the great-aunt to the projection of a possible future. These elements, present in this fluid-genre text – sometimes an essay, sometimes an article – are used to "make feel" the unfolding of life (with its narrative possibilities) in the present. In the end, in a sort of ignorant conclusion about life, the only certainty is the impossible ending – one cannot know the exact time of the end; what is certain in this not-knowing is the promise of continuity. Until when?
