Participatory mapping has been a tool for strengthening the territory of traditional communities, which was developed in conjunction with it and was responsible for presenting the quilombola community of Moinho, in the village of Moinho, Alto Paraíso de Goiás, the tourist potential and other elements in the same way. For this purpose, field surveys using GPS and drones, photographic records and dialogues with the community were used as methodology. In this process, points were identified that the community understood as important to be represented, such as waterfalls, rivers, and also points of cultural interest, such as churches, leisure courts and others. While places of interest were mapped, practices and knowledge that the community recognizes as important to them were also identified. Therefore, mapping went beyond an empowerment tool, but rather a recognition of the potential that the community has.
