The reactionary monster of Frankenstein faces history
Notes on the Contemporary Dedemocratization of the Past

This essay seeks to scrutinize theoretically the contemporary phenomenon called “dedemocratization of the past” through, firstly, a case study about the anti-critical race theory laws recently approved in the United States and, later, the analysis of two major companies that produce “historical” content connected to the current reactionary advance, the American PragerU and the local Brasil Paralelo. Finally, the text offers some general theoretical reflections on what the dedemocratization of the past represents for present societies.
