Abstract

The aim this paper is to propose that Weber employs metatheoretical notions in order to conceive the conditions of objective in the human sciences. Therefore it was necessary to bring Weber closer to the heuristic conception of formal sciences. Weber reshapes the notion of evidence in metatheoretical terms, namely, consistency and objective possibility. Such properties refer to the discursive structure of ideal types and do not imply a reference to objective reality. Thus, the employment of ideal types do not require any ontological commitment.
