History and Literature in Edward Palmer Thompson

The aim of this essay is to investigate how literature is used by Edward Palmer Thompson in his historiographical work. Thompson's connection to the materialist and dialectical tradition in the study of art and literature is widely acknowledged. Thus, to understand his historiographical production, one cannot separate 'content' and 'form.' Thompson employs literature as a specific way of understanding the world.
