Tecituras da Balaiada
Abstract
The objective of this review is to present to the academic community a collective work, essential for understanding the context and overlapping of Balaiada. This book leads us to reflect on the occurrence of the event and also stands out for bringing researchers from different institutions and specialists in the History of Imperial Brazil. In this way, it is opportune to present the work and the theoretical-methodological framework, as well as to be aware that the work is inserted in Brazilian historiography as an important instrument to rethink the 1830s and 1840s, a time in which the political contours were being demarcated and social aspects of the Brazilian National State, permeating the discussion of Balaiada, from the provinces of Maranhão, Piauí and Ceará. In this path, times and places were taken up by the authors as objects of analysis that served as a motto to identify the subjects and their actions. Therefore, what we read in the collection is the exercise of the use of different sources and the intersection with other indications that helped researchers in expanding the fruitful debates about the Balaiada, in the act of interpreting and reconstructing the narratives.
