Te apokatastatic dimension of the theological politics developed in the Baudelaire book might well have remained unnamed: like the ink in the metaphor with which we commenced, apokatastasis could have remained invisible. Yet he did name it. Te cosmological speculation of the book’s fnal chapters is saturated with Benjamin’s very particular infection of the patristic concept—an understanding shaped not just by his reading of Christian dogma, but by meditation on esoteric Judaism and the espousal of a utopian media theory.
