This paper aims to spark discussions on theoretical-methodological elements for Geography Didactics that promote the development of students' geographic thinking. To fulfill this intention, bibliographical research was conducted focusing on the theoretical categories General Didactics and Geography Didactics. The theoretical results indicate that General Didactics is a branch of pedagogy that has as its object of study the teaching and learning process. Geography Didactics, on the other hand, involves the mobilization of an amalgam of both didactic-pedagogical knowledge and the epistemology of Geography that gives form and content to its teaching in elementary school. Therefore, the discussions in this paper on theoretical-methodological elements of General Didactics and Geography Didactics contribute to enhancing the development of theoretical-conceptual thinking (geographic thinking) in Geography teaching.
