The locative adverb, in real situations of use, has properties that go beyond
those provided in normative grammars. Thus, in this article, based on authors
such as Neves, 2002, 2011; Castilho, 2014; among others, we present a
description of the morphosyntactic behavior of this type of adverb, having
as corpus news leads from the newspapers Folha de São Paulo and A Tarde.
Starting from the hypothesis that the locative is influenced by properties such
as mobility, form and syntactic function, we performed a quantitative analysis
whose results confirmed its multifunctional behavior. The expectation is to
expand descriptions that contemplate adverbs and to contribute to the teaching
of this category.
