This brief study attempts to analyse a reading unit of a textbook used for teaching English as a foreign language in the light of Pearson and Johnsor's (1978) taxonomy of comprehension questions. This article also presents an example of a successful reading activity which explores all types of questions listed by the Pearson and Johnson (1978). It aims at helping teachers of English as a foreign language to classify and balance the types of questions used in reading comprehension activities in order to make them more effective and interesting for the learners.
