This article analyzes some of Erving Goffman’s statements in his book Thepresentation of Self in everyday life, whose project is to capture and to explain
the strategies that people use in order to pass of them a positive self-image, by
verbal and mainly non-verbal resources. Goffman affirms that great part of the
daily behavior is similar to the actors in the stage, and the individuals and the
groups are constantly representing one another. Basing on two of the letters
that compose the romance Les liaisons dangereuses, by Charderlos de Laclos,
we will be trying to study the representations completely false to learn something
regarding the ones who are entirely honest.
