In this study, it is discussed the notion of “oeuvre efficacy” as it appears in the mature Lukács’ Estética. The work of art must contain in itself the possibility of orienting its receiver, and this orientation consists in a mapping of social reality and a presentation of a guide to action. None of which is done as the defence of a thesis, but as the figuration of concrete human destinies. The question that poses itself is: if none of this depends on the mere intention of the creator nor the receiver, what makes this placement viable?
