Lyrical novel. Nossos Ossos. Marcelino Freire. Contemporary Brazilian literature.Abstract
The lyrical novel, as defined by Jean-Yves Tadié (1978), is a hybrid genre, a prose narrative whose action and effect procedures refer to the poem: it contains elements of the narrative – author, narrator, protagonist, plot, space and time – and of the poem: structure, myth, style and, to a lesser extent, rhythm, sound and repetition. Starting from this definition, the work will analyze Nossos Ossos, looking at how the narrator-protagonist of the novel and his trip to Pernambuco confer traits of lyrical novel to the book.
