This paper aims to describe and explain, in a historiographical perspective, as teaching Brazilian Portuguese began and developed in the United States of America (USA). Research has shown that the growth of teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE) in the United States is instrumental. Commercial interests is what has motivated learners, as Brazil, especially between 2010 and 2012, is emerging in the international media and, as a result, attracts the interest of investors and sellers of products and services.Downloads
