Abstract

This paper analyses the ideas of the Italian author Ugo Foscolo (1778-1827) aboutthe literary criticism contained in his essays about literature, and demonstrateshow the metodology proposed by the author contributed to the renewal of theliterary criticism in Italy between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
