Abstract

In this study, we evaluate how images contribute to the perception of criticism of social ills in denouncing female subordination in the series genre. Using a qualitative-interpretive approach, we analyzed three frames from Netflix series “Good Morning, Veronica” (2020), based on contributions from Social Semiotics, emphasizing the Grammar of Visual Design (Kress; van Leeuwen, 2021), interspersed with representational and interactive meanings. We conclude that multisemiotic artifacts contribute to unveiling and de-crystallizing mishaps that violate human dignity and the right to freedom, with the aim of broadening the lens through which society conceives and signifies the world.
