Abstract

The present study was carried out on farms of the Jalles Machado, S/A Açúcar e Álcool, a factory established in Goianésia, Goiás state. In order to obtain technical support for programs of recovering border forests and areas of permanent preservation, survival and development of trees were evaluated. At intervals of two months and a half, heigth and diameter of the stem just above the ground were measured on trees planted in 32 plots of modified environment, 400 m2 each. The results showed high mortality rate of some species less adapted to the environment and good development of others. Therefore planning should include a better choice of tree species well adapted to the environment where they are to be planted.
