A História da Matemática nos cursos de licenciatura - o caso das instituições públicas de Goiás

Knowledge of the History of Science, including Mathematics, is believed to be of great value for teaching and learning processes, as well as for the training of future teachers. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the History of Mathematics discipline in the curriculum of licentiate degree in Mathematics courses in operation, in 2019, in the public educational institutions of Goiás. For this, a documentary research was made, based on educational legislation and official documents of the 14 courses object of this investigation. To support the analysis of documentary data, a bibliographic research was conducted, based on authors who discuss History and History of Mathematics. As a result, this study showed that, in most courses, the discipline in question is allocated in the first periods, without requiring prerequisites, with very broad content and insufficient workload. This leads to the need to discuss the format of the subject in the analyzed courses, as well as its real contribution to teacher education.
