Abstract

The text aims to systematize the practices and policies of information and memory that occurred in Brazil during the dictatorship and the transitional period (1964 to 2016). The method used was documentary research, focusing on dossiers, reports, and articles published by commissions and civil society and governmental organizations working in the field of memory, truth, and justice. The main conclusion is that the progress and setbacks in the field of information and memory policies were the result of a complex interplay of forces and diverse social interactions, whether in conflict or complementarity, between civil society organizations and the state.
