Abstract

Guadix Cathedral (Granada, Spain) is a magnificent building of great historical and artistic value, a symbol of the identity of this city and the jewel of its cultural heritage. The history of its construction is complex and was marked by different social, economic and political circumstances that determined that it will last in time, covering a chronological arc that goes from the 16th to the 18th centuries. The objective of this article is to get closer to the history of this building by showing the enigmas present in its construction that, despite the numerous research papers published and the abundant documentation, are still pending to be resolved today, as well as the peculiarities that make from it one of the most beautiful cathedrals of Andalusian artistic and historical heritage.
