One of the objectives of heritage legislation in Spain is to transmit cultural assets to future generations. Taking this legal premise into account, we present a study in which we show how, through architectural rehabilitation, it has been possible to connect two different historical moments: the 16th century and the 21st century. The extension of the useful life of Mudejar domestic architecture has been taken as a reference. The keys that have justified the strategy, backed by a sustainable framework, have been to serve a dual purpose: on one hand, recovering the cultural asset and, the other hand, offering a housing solution for a disadvantaged population. The knowledge of this architecture located in a World Heritage Site such as the Albaicin neighbourhood in Granada (Spain), the criteria used in the actions analysed, together with a vision of the most immediate results, justify making this experience known in order to extrapolate it to other geographical to other geographical and cultural contexts.
