Abstract

This article aims to comprehend the relationship of performing memory in museums for the construction of belongings and identities in the context of the Federal District (Brazil) and how the heroic discourse about the conquest of the hinterland and the systematic silencing of the Brasília construction workers memories – so called candangos - both for their merit and for the hardships resulting from migration and settlement in the Planalto Central reflects and produces the marginalization of  residents from peripheral about the planned perimeter of Brasilia. Knowing that the cultural mediation exercised by these spaces is not only a reflection or product but also a producer of meanings, understand the right to memory as a straight way to raise awareness and the foundation of an action-reflection.
