Fiscal posts and definition of borders
the southwest of Goiás (1890-1925)

This article aims to elucidate the territorial dynamics of the southwestern region of Goiás between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Methodologically, it dedicates to the analysis of the State's action through the implementation of fiscal posts at the borders of that region. An analysis that shows at least two results. First, as the territorial consolidation was verified by the government fiscal action and the action of these collection posts as territorial instruments of power: reordering territories and demarcating limits. As a second result, it was found that this state action corroborates the thesis that the idea of economic decadense in Goiás, in this period, can and should be re-analyzed.
