Abstract

This article intends to approach the migration process that culminated with the colonization and settlement of the south area of Goiás in the first half of the century XIX. Migratory flow was composed in her great majority by farmers of Minas Gerais coming from the areas of Rio das Mortes, Sabará and Paracatu. Emigration was impelled in these areas by the development of an economy diversified that increased, in the period, to provide the markets of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
