Abstract

This brief essay analyzes the repercussion of the proposal of the Marcha para Oeste by Cassiano Ricardo, in that important group of the Oeste magazine in the period of the Estado Novo (1937-1945). That group seeks the development of the Slate of Goiás through its incorporation to Brazilian nation. The appartenance of the State of Goiás to Brazil had occured in a double way: on the one hand, the young Brazilian nation promoting its unity and its position before the civilized ocidental world; on the other hand, the elites of State of Goiás trying simultaneous to favour its civilizing process, building its regional identity to face the Brazilian National Stale.
