BALANÇO SOBRE A HISTÓRIA RURAL PRODUZIDA EM PORTUGAL NAS ÚLTIMAS DÉCADAS

This conference presents a survey of the rural Portuguese history principally in the three decades following the Revolução de Abril (1970, 1980 e 1990). The author resumes all the historiographic production since the end of the nineteenth century till the decades of 1950 and 1960. In those years the influence of the French School was the turning point lo the renewal of the subsequent agrarian studies in Portugal. In the final section the author points out to the rural changes due to the European Union and the exigences of the contemporaneous economy.
