Abstract

The aim of this article is to generate a reading of the Romulus and Remus legend by the comparative analysis of the 'Tims Livius' work History of Rome, 'Dionysius of Halicarnassus* Roman Antiquities and Plutarch's Life of Romulus and to relate it to the Lupercalia festival, as presented by Ovidius in Fastus and Plutarch in Life of Romulus. We intend to understand the process of building an Roman identity from the written works and rituals that deal with the foundation of Rome.
