Abstract

This paper is an integrative review whose objective was to seek available evidences on literature about diabetes mellitus related tools and scales that were adapted and validated to Brazilian culture. After searching on the electronic databases BDENF, SciELO and LILACS, it was included seven tools that met the inclusion criteria: Diabetes Mellitus Knowledge (DKN-A); Diabetes Mellitus Attitude (ATT-19); Diabetes Quality of Life Measure (DQOL-Brasil); Diabetes Quality of Life for Youths (DQOLY-Brasil); Diabetes 39 (D-39); Insulin Management Diabetes Self-efficacy (IMDSES); Problem Areas in Diabetes (PAID) and Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire (QAD). The results allowed making comparison between the available tools, besides learning the validation process limitations and clinical application. There are expectations that this study may contribute to a greater awareness of diabetes-related tools available to Brazilian culture, so as to offer subsidies for their use on research or nursing care.
