Abstract

The aim of the present study is to describe and analyze the planning, development, and evaluation of an educational action with a group of poor adolescents, about sexuality and STI/AIDS prevention. This is an action-research using Systemic Thought (ST) and Operative Group (OG) as the theoretical-methodological framework. The study was performed from September to October 2006 at a Family Health Unit [Unidade de Saúde da Familia] within a context of poverty. Six girls, with ages between 12 and 14 years, participated in the study. Data collection was done by means of a field diary and manual registers of the statements during the Operative Group. By planning, developing, and evaluating this education action it was possible to verify the convergence of ST and OG to issues that permeate STI/AIDS prevention, since they develop from a contextual, procedural, and relational perspective where attachment and listening are values in the co-construction of possibilities for preventing the referred diseases.

Key words: Group Processes; Health Education; Family Health Program; Adolescent; Poverty.
