Nowadays, training of university teachers is the focus of attention. This paper describes the experience of three post-graduate students from São Paulo University, whom participated in the Teaching Improvement Program, through the course " Nursing Principles and Practices of Community Health", offered to undergraduate nursing students, in the I semester of 2007. The methodology addressed the strategies used for planning, development and evaluation of the course. The results and discussions of this process are presented, in order to reflect on the scope of that program relating to teaching. The PAE experience is in a privileged space for improvement of student post-graduate and to reflect about teaching-learning process. Meanwhile, it was an insufficient space for pedagogical training, as it was the only space to meet this need in university.
