Showering as a non pharmacological strategy to relief the parturients pain

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of showering for the relief of the parturients pain in the phase activates of the labor. Study presented as a clinic essay of therapeutic intervention kind “before and after" realized in the Humanized Unit of Childbirth of the Maternity Januário Cicco School of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in Natal/RN, whit 100 parturients in the application of that strategy in period 2005 September at 2006 February. We used the visual analogical scale to evaluate the pain of the study parturients. The majority of the study parturients was between 20 to 30 years old (60%); with incomplete fundamental teaching (85%); family income until 2 minimum wages (74%), 78% had a companion, and these, 44% were the own husband. The oxytocin was administered in 81% of the cases and only 15% these women didn’t receive anything medication. We verified significant relief of the pain of the study parturients after application of the showering, were effective in the relief of the pain of the study parturients.Downloads
