The Grounded Theory in Brazilian nursing post-graduation studies

This is a documental and quantitative study to identify theses and dissertations developed in the Brazilian Nursing Post-graduation Programs based in the Grounded Theory (GT) methodological framework and to analyze the epistemological posted. Data were collected at the CAPES database at the time of 1996 to 2010. It was raised 99 abstracts, which was analytically read regarding to know the theme or research problem and its theoretical framework. Most of articles was published in 2005, the sum of the two academic levels, and 54% come from USP Post-Graduation Programs. The subject areas most significant were: Child Health/Adolescent, Health Management/Nursing, Public Health and Women’s Health. The main theoretical framework was the Symbolic Interactionism. The GT includes a methodology that can be employed in nursing, able to contribute to the development of new research for its continuous improvement.
