The objective of this review is to map the scientific production on skateboarding, identify knowledge gaps, and understand how skateboarding has been approached in academia. This study was based on the PRISMA protocol guidelines to conduct a systematic review. A systematic search was performed in the Scopus, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science databases. The application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 144 studies. These studies were categorized into 17 themes, with the most discussed being urban spaces, injuries, skateparks, gender, and historical aspects. It is concluded that specific areas still lack research, particularly studies focusing on the technical-tactical aspects of skateboarding and its teaching-learning process.
