Abstract

This study analyzed sports and leisure spending by municipalities in Goiás from 2013 to 2023, seeking to contribute to understanding the configuration of this public policy in the state's municipalities. This descriptive study, conducted through documentary analysis, collected data on the Sports and Leisure Function (SLF) and analyzed data based on the indicators of spending magnitude and direction. The data demonstrated that sports and leisure funding by Goiás municipalities fluctuated significantly. The vast majority of Goiás municipalities adhered to the SLF and prioritized spending on the Community Sports and Leisure subfunctions, neglecting the allocation of funds to high-performance sports.
