The free-throw is a basketball-specific shooting skill and depends on the athlete's visual focus of attention. This factor is related to the Quiet Eye (OQ) and can be altered by anxiety. This review sought to establish the state of the art in the literature on OQ and its relationship with anxiety, observing their impact on the performance of athletes in the free-throw. Searches were performed in the main databases with the descriptors “quiet eye, basketball and anxiety”. The OQ (final visual fixation starting during the last motor phase) characterizes skill and performance levels. The search revealed that anxiety influences several aspects of the free throw, such as reducing the duration of the OQ.
