Abstract

The article aims to analyze the process of land appropriation of the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia (RMG) by real estate companies. The analysis addresses the strategies used by real estate developers and difficulties (not) faced by public administration in the regulation of land inventory of RMG over the last two decades. The article includes literature review and field work carried out during the author’s doctoral research. From this methodology, we discuss the socio-spatial impacts caused by the real estate market which turned over 60 million square meters into urban land in the RMG.

Key words: real estate market, production of space, RMG.
