Abstract

Urbanization is traditionally studied as a thorough process, disregarding the fact that it represents only one phase within a broader cycle that needs to achieve a compact stage, necessarily encompassing both the economic growth of a city and its socio-spatial development, understood as the final point of an irrefutable urban homeostasis. With the market as a powerful driver, although marked by discrepancies in urban dynamics, this article calls for an urgent revision of prevailing urban analysis methods, proposing the incorporation of synergies with other fields, such as economics, political science, sociology, and anthropology.
