Abstract

This article presents the Comunidade que Sustenta a Agricultura (CSA) Artigo Quinto in Palmeiras de Goiás/GO as a movement of (Re)Existence conceived from the productive and commercial activities that guarantee the production of food by the peasants settled by the agrarian reform. The production of food by the CSA Artigo Quinto is relevant to food sovereignty and incorporates actions, knowledge, and sociocultural practices that spatialize new counter-hegemonic territorialities in territories dominated by agribusiness. Through qualitative and quantitative research, bibliographic surveys, fieldwork, observations, and notes on the actions constructed by the settlers in the CSA were carried out. In recent decades, territorial modernization has caused traditional practices to be lost amid the advance of capitalist corporations, under the complacent gaze of the State and, often, with abundant public resources. Finally, the practices understood as a movement of (Re)Existence were observed. This is what makes environmental preservation, food nutrition, and the production and sale of food in short circuits possible, ensuring work, income and the reproduction of peasant life in the countryside.
